Honda Unveils Shine 100 DX: A Premium Edge for the 100cc Commuter Segment
New Delhi, India – Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has expanded its popular 100cc commuter lineup with the unveiling of the new Honda Shine 100 DX. Positioned as a more premium offering above the standard Shine 100, the DX variant brings a host of fresh features and refined styling to the highly competitive entry-level motorcycle segment.
The reveal of the Shine 100 DX comes as part of Honda's 25th-anniversary celebrations in India, signaling the company's commitment to strengthening its presence in the crucial mass-market commuter category. Bookings for the new motorcycle are set to commence from August 1, 2025, with official pricing expected to be announced by the end of July. Early estimates place the Honda Shine 100 DX at around ₹72,000 (ex-showroom).
What Sets the Shine 100 DX Apart?
While retaining the trusted foundation of the Shine 100, the DX variant boasts several enhancements:
Modern Digital Instrument Cluster: A significant upgrade is the inclusion of a new LCD digital instrument cluster. This display provides essential information such as real-time mileage, distance-to-empty, and a service due indicator, a notable feature in this segment.
Refined Aesthetics: The Shine 100 DX sports a more premium look with fresh body graphics, a newly designed headlamp with chrome garnishing, a sculpted and wider 10-litre fuel tank (up from 9 litres), and chrome muffler cover. The all-black engine and grab rail also contribute to its stylish road presence.
Enhanced Practicality and Safety: The DX variant comes equipped with tubeless tyres, offering better puncture resistance and convenience for daily commuters. It also features a side-stand engine cut-off system for added safety. The suspension setup includes telescopic front forks and 5-step adjustable twin rear shock absorbers, promising a comfortable ride.
Proven Engine: Powering the Shine 100 DX is the same reliable 98.98cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine as the standard model. This engine delivers 7.28 bhp at 7500 rpm and 8.04 Nm of peak torque at 5000 rpm, paired with a 4-speed gearbox. It also benefits from Honda's eSP (Enhanced Smart Power) technology for optimal performance and efficiency.
Colour Options:
The Honda Shine 100 DX will be available in four appealing colour options:
Pearl Igneous Black
Imperial Red Metallic
Athletic Blue Metallic
Geny Gray Metallic
With these upgrades, the Honda Shine 100 DX aims to bridge the gap between basic commuters and slightly more feature-rich alternatives, positioning itself as a strong contender against rivals like the Hero HF Deluxe and Bajaj CT100. Its blend of style, practicality, and modern features is tailored to meet the evolving demands of Indian two-wheeler customers.
